App implementation
Bring Bedside Coach, ChartSlate, and Sibyl Sim into your curriculum with confidence
The apps are free, and you don't need to engage me to use them. Fitting them into your courses, preparing faculty to use them, and sustaining that use is where programs need help. I work with nursing programs to plan, teach, and integrate these tools so they strengthen clinical judgment instead of sitting unused on a device.

Flagship
Bedside Coach
Clinical judgment, communication, coaching, and feedback.

Chart practice
ChartSlate
Simulated records, cue recognition, and prioritization.

Sim lab AV
Sibyl Sim
Cameras, observation, and debrief on a private local network.
Why implementation matters
Free tools still need a plan
Downloading an app takes a minute. Deciding where it fits in a course, how it connects to outcomes and simulation, and how busy faculty will use it week after week takes expertise. Without that work, even strong tools get tried once and set aside.
Tied to your outcomes
Activities connect to your course objectives, clinical judgment priorities, and existing simulation sequence. They are not added on the side.
Faculty who feel ready
Faculty learn the apps through their own courses and cases, so they can run sessions and debriefs on their own.
Use that lasts beyond launch
You finish with a documented plan, resources your team owns, and a clear path to refine or expand.
Privacy by design
Designed so learner data stays on the device
Bedside Coach, ChartSlate, and Sibyl Sim are built to run on the device and work offline. There are no student accounts to create and no automatic cloud uploads. Simulations, transcripts, reports, and recordings stay on the device unless a faculty member or learner chooses to share them. That design helps your program meet its FERPA and HIPAA obligations, and it keeps the conversation with your IT and privacy offices simpler.
On-device processing
Model-powered features use Apple's on-device model when it is available. ChartSlate's optional assistance runs on device, with no cloud fallback.
No accounts
Learners and faculty can start without creating logins or profiles.
Works offline
Core practice runs without Wi-Fi in the classroom, skills lab, or simulation center. Sibyl Sim runs across a private local network.
Sharing is always a choice
Cases, reports, and recordings leave the device only through AirDrop, Files, QR, or a local session that a user starts.
The apps are for simulated and deidentified educational cases only. Do not enter real patient information. Your institution remains responsible for its own consent, retention, security review, and device management. Implementation planning includes time to work through these with your IT and simulation teams. Full details are on the Bedside Coach privacy policy.
Why work with me
Implementation led by the nurse educator who built the tools
I teach nursing, I design simulation, and I built these apps around what happens in real courses and labs. When we work together, you get guidance grounded in teaching practice and simulation pedagogy, not just software setup.

Ways I can help
Start where your program is
Each option builds on the one before it. Begin with a single day, or bring me in for a full term. Every engagement is scoped to your learners, faculty capacity, and calendar.
A day
Demonstration Day
See the apps in your own teaching context before you commit to anything.
- Live demonstration of Bedside Coach, ChartSlate, and Sibyl Sim, or the ones you choose
- Hands-on time for faculty and leadership
- Discussion of where the apps could fit in your courses
- An overview of how the apps are designed to keep data on the device, for your IT and privacy contacts
- A short written summary of recommended next steps
For: Programs exploring options, and deans, directors, and faculty who want a shared first look.
Format: One day, on campus or virtual.
A focused plan
Curriculum Mapping
Know exactly where each app belongs in your courses and why.
- Review of course outcomes, current simulation, and clinical judgment priorities
- A placement map showing which app, in which course, for which outcome
- Recommended activities and case types for each placement
- Device, workflow, and privacy planning with your IT and simulation teams
- A written implementation roadmap your team can act on
For: Curriculum committees and course leads who are ready to plan placement.
Format: A focused planning engagement, virtual with an optional on-campus working session.
Workshops
Faculty Training
Faculty who can teach with the apps confidently on their own.
- Hands-on workshops built around your courses and cases
- Facilitation and debriefing guidance for app-supported activities
- Train-the-trainer preparation for faculty leads
- Quick-reference resources your faculty keep
- With a longer engagement, custom features in Bedside Coach, ChartSlate, or Sibyl Sim, scoped with your faculty
For: Programs that have chosen where to use the apps and need faculty ready to run them.
Format: One or more workshop sessions, on campus or virtual.
A term
Term-long embedded consult
Complete Curriculum Integration
I work alongside your team for a full term, from plan to launch to review.
- Everything in Curriculum Mapping and Faculty Training
- Custom features built into Bedside Coach, ChartSlate, or Sibyl Sim for your program, scoped with your faculty
- Custom case and activity development for your courses
- Launch support during the term, with regular check-ins
- Ongoing faculty coaching as questions come up
- End-of-term review of feedback and fit, with a plan for refinement and scale
For: Programs integrating one or more apps across a course, level, or simulation sequence.
Format: One academic term, combining on-campus and virtual support.
How an engagement works
From the first conversation to sustainable use
1
Discover
Goals, learners, workflows, and constraints.
2
Design
Scope, approach, responsibilities, and measures.
3
Prepare
Curriculum, cases, resources, and faculty support.
4
Launch
A focused pilot or phased implementation.
5
Evaluate
Feedback, fit, refinements, and next steps.
It starts with a short conversation about your program. I'll reply with a recommended tier and a proposed scope.
Common questions
Are the apps really free?
Yes. Bedside Coach, ChartSlate, and Sibyl Sim are free to use. You can download them and teach with them without engaging me.
Do we need to engage you to use the apps?
No. The apps are free to use. Engagement is optional, for programs that want help tying them into the curriculum or building assignments with faculty.
Do we need to use all three apps?
No. Start with Bedside Coach, add ChartSlate when chart practice is the need, and bring in Sibyl Sim only if the lab wants a local audio-visual option. The plan follows your learning need.
Can we start small?
Yes. Many programs begin with a Demonstration Day or Curriculum Mapping and decide on next steps from there.
Can you add features to the apps for our program?
Yes. With longer engagements, I can build features into any of the apps for your program, scoped together with your faculty.
How do the apps handle student data?
They are designed so data stays on the device. There are no accounts and no automatic cloud uploads, and core features work offline. That helps your program meet its FERPA and HIPAA obligations. Your institution still completes its own privacy and security review, and I can support that conversation with your IT team.
What devices do we need?
The apps run on Apple devices, and requirements vary by app and feature. Device needs are confirmed during planning, before anything launches. Current requirements are listed on bedsidecoach.app.
Can this work with our existing curriculum and cases?
Yes. Existing outcomes, cases, and simulation scenarios can be reviewed and adapted, and new materials can be developed where there is a gap.
Do you work on campus or virtually?
Both. Each tier can be delivered on campus, virtually, or as a mix.
Let's plan what implementation could look like for your program
Share your program, the apps you're considering, your learners and faculty, and your timeline. I'll reply with a recommended starting point. Bedside Coach comes first for most programs. ChartSlate is the usual next step. Sibyl Sim is there when the lab needs a simple local audio-visual option.
Please do not include patient information, student records, or other confidential material in your initial message.
